KABBA (Kim's Academy Black Belt Association) is sponsoring a Board Holding/Breaking clinic on August 26 at the main school, 1617 S. Longfellow in Wichita, KS. The clinic begins at 1:00 PM. We ask all to arrive prior to the start even if you are only wanting to attend the breaking and practice part of the clinic. This clinic is a focused supplement to the training you receive at your regular branch school location. The cost is a non-perishable food donation to the Kansas Food Bank.
Here is the structure of the event:
- 1:00 PM Board Holding clinic
The focus of this clinic is to teach red belts and new black belts the proper way to hold boards. Sometimes, when testers struggle, it is because of how the board is being held. The age group for this clinic is Teenage and Adult Red and black belts.
- 1:30 PM Board Breaking clinic
This clinic will be open to all Kim's Academy student that wants to improve their ability to break boards. The focus will be on educating the tester on their role when it comes to board breaking. Expected to still arrive by 1:00
- 2:00 PM Practice
For the last 30 minutes, the focus will be on practicing the skills learned.
Sr. Master Steve Hilburn will be leading the class. All Red belts and new black belts are asked to attend so they can learn the proper way to hold boards. Any student that struggles with board breaking is encouraged to attend.
The next Kim's Academy Friendship Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2017. It will be held at Kapaun Mount Carmel High School, located at 8506 East Central, Wichita, KS.
Setup will begin at 9:30. Registration for competitors will begin at 11:00. There will also be a referee meeting (Black belts only) at 11:30. We need as many black belts as possible to help with this tournament. The tournament will begin at Noon.
Cost will be $20 per competitor. This fee covers competition in forms and sparring. The tournament is open to all Kim's Academy belt ranks and ages.
